Party-starter Chrissy joins the Shall Not Fade family with a 4-track serotonin hit which draws on influences from his San Franciscan heritage, as well as those closer to home in the UK.

'You Don't Have To Worry' encompasses this fusion, with anthemic piano chords and uplifting vocals that enliven a swung breaks instrumental. 'Assure Us There's A Heaven' and 'If I Could' also come with plenty of swing, borrowing tropes from UK Funky to show house at its most danceable, whilst 'All These Dreams' is a modern take on old school vocal house. More

For Hooversound’s ninth release, SHERELLE and NAINA welcome San Francisco-based DJ and producer Chrissy to the family for the label’s debut album release. Coming out on the 27th October, ‘Physical Release’ blends elements of ravey techno, house, and jungle that have run through his previous work. The final result is an exploration of what our scene’s physical spaces mean and how they feed into themes of politics, family, connection and joy. Speaking about the album Chrissy says, ??"These songs were inspired by our scene's physical spaces: the warehouses, clubs, record stores, late night cafes, lofts, and friends' living rooms that let us connect to each other, experience the joy and wonder of dance music culture, and find our family. I've seen these spaces gradually decimated by cops, property developers, cynical corporate brand partners, irresponsible promoters, and a global pandemic. The end result is a dance music culture that feels more online and disconnected, culminating in over a year without any physically shared spaces. Encouragingly, I've seen many in our community finally acknowledge a painful reality: our scene has failed to live up to its utopian ideals, and to protect, value, and uplift all of our peers. No matter how fondly we remember our first raves, the culture was and is broken, and it's our job to fix it. So while this album may feel like a paean to a bygone era, it is more a reflection of optimism about the future: a hope that we can rebuild our scene and our communal physical spaces with better priorities and better values, so that everybody can experience the euphoria, joy, transcendence, and physical release of the dancefloor." The album opens with a quote from artist, author, and transgender activist Edie Fake, who also designed the artwork for ‘Physical Release’. A fellow Chicago-to-California transplant, Edie’s previous work has dealt largely with physical spaces, including historical queer nightlife spaces. More

'Clap Yr Hands' channels '90s speed garage vibes via Chicago disco house, and 'Give U XTC' is a dark drummy bass workout with a chopped-up vocal. Rising star Baronhawk Poitier (Honey Soundsystem Records, The NeedlExchange) and Glasgow-based scene leader Nightwave (Dixon Avenue Basement Jams, Balkan Vinyl, Dext) both turn in amazing, dark, deconstructed remixes to round out the package.

He specialises in rave-influenced sounds, Chicago house, and disco, but his 20-year career has ranged from jungle to footwork to freestyle (he literally has it all!). Jerome Hill returns with his 5th full EP on the label to warm you up for winter and it’s maybe stylistically, his widest offering yet.

A joyous mash of influences collide and Hill spits them out of the blender with some typically unexpected curveballs.

From the strikingly moody break beat acid of The Warning, to the 8 minute long extended Disco workout of ‘Harlseden Shuffle’. Then on the flip side, a reliably gnarly wedge of Technoey Acid House in ‘Combustion Zone’ and the EP culminates with a tip of the hat to mid nineties House with the rumbling bass and catchy percussion of ‘House Thing’.

On remix duties Luca Lozano and DJ Steve step up and twist the track around, creating an ode to Sheffield, channelling bleeps and bass in a manner that could easily have seen this release sitting comfortably alongside purple sleeved classics in 1990. More

We’re excited to be joined by one of the most versatile and knowledgeable DJ producers on the planet. Hailing from Chicago, Chrissy’s expertise knows no bounds and stylistically there’s few hats he won’t don, with productions appearing on labels as diverse as Planet Mu, Classic and Hypercolour to name a few. For his debut on Super Rhythm Trax his wings remain characteristically unclipped as the tone veers from the massive Acid wall of ’Truth Bomb’ (built upon an acappella from a house legend) through the ghostly dubbed out ‘Stumble’ to the anthemic house of ‘We’re Movin’ before finally resting on the 21st century New Beat of ’24 Hour Puppy People’ .

Matt Whitehead needs no introduction here on Super Rhythm Trax and for this outing, he’s joined by No Data Available (fresh from a recent outing on Null & Void) and together they’ve come up with somethingsuper special. ‘Sahara’ and ‘Temple Of Set’ conjure strong images that match their respective titles with the mood alternating between majestic and mystical. Nexus 21 and Altern 8 legend Mark Archer teams up with one of House Music’s hottest properties, Shadow Child for this explorative mission into the harder end of the genre. The three tracks range from the exposive Acid House of “It’s Good” ; as catchy as it is jacking, through ‘Non Stop’ that expertly squeezes the most from a Mr. Fingers style synth to great effect and culminates with ‘Eye Feel’ which straight up bangs the party.
The fourth track is a remix of ‘Non Stop’ by Jerome Hill that opens it out adding lush strings and some extra bounce.. There’s even a subtle piano in there somewhere !
