After two decades of releasing music on 12" vinyl under multiple pseudonyms the duo from Even Drones have completed their first LP.
The 20 track double vinyl carries the classic "album era" approach of the 60s and 70s into a modern contemporary work.

Each of the 4 sides of "Ethics" feels like the chapter of a story balanced into a synthesis of counterpoints from piece to piece. Twisted arrangements are stringed together with dance-able tracks and are woven into finespun transmutations of sounds. Sometimes peaceful and regulated, sometimes abstract and complemented with tamed feedback, noises, crackling and delightful patterns.

Like a continuous thread through all titles of the album, the multi instrumentalists somehow managed to harmonize a twisted array of methods and structures into a coherent listening experience.
This full feature-length metamorphosis with no boundaries of styles or genres is released just in time for the 10th anniversary of the band on Freund der Familie.

Long-time affiliate of the Freund Der Familie imprint Achim Maerz returns to the label with his latest album
‘Relief’, comprised of nine originals from the Hamburg-based artist.

Over the past decade Achim Maerz has been releasing his twist on dub, downtempo, techno and leftfield
electronica via the likes of Semtek’s Don’t Be Afraid, Mark Rhein and Benjamin Brunn’s Wake Up! Records, Solar Phenomena
and of course Freund Der Familie where he returns here with his latest collection of work.

Across the nine-track ‘Relief’ LP Achim Maerz displays the depth of influences in his music, from the cinematic
electronica contributions like opener ‘Gondolier’, ‘Dream’ and ‘Memories’ through to more classic deep, dubby
techno style cuts like ‘Black Hole’, ‘Changing Weather’, ‘Open Sky and ‘On The Way’.

Maerz also explores more experimental aesthetics via the intricately syncopated rhythms and dynamic synth
work on tracks like title-cut ‘Relief’ and closing composition ‘Odysee’.

Leipzig's Freund der Familie has established itself as a driving force in the world of contemporary dub techno over the past decade, releasing material from the likes of Sven Weisemann, YWF, S.Channel and label bosses FDF amongst others. Here the imprint continues its Grau series with more dub leaning electronic cuts.
'Margin' opens the release and lays down pulsating subs, cavernous hats and expansive chords across six minutes with processed dub vocals ebbing and flowing throughout. 'Scope' follows next and embraces a more off-killer feel with choppy stab sequences, menacing bass flutters and spiralling, dubbed-out spoken word.
'Limbic' opens the second part of the package, bringing ethereal atmospherics and shuffled percussion into focus atop weighty muted kicks and snaking subs. Last up to round out the release is 'Utils', bringing a bumpy broken beat and swaying dub chords into the mix while intricate delays and hypnotic vocal chants unfold within.

Freund der Familie invite Christopher Rau, Pole, Roger Gerressen and Van Bonn to
remixes cuts from their 2018 ‘Panorama’ EP this February.
Leipzig, Germany’s Freund der Familie, the producer and label name, has long been
respected in the world of raw, underground house and techno. The past decade has seen
the founders Klaus Rakete & Mirko Hunger unveil a number of releases under the alias,
exploring a wide range of styles influenced by dub, leftfield electronica and much more.
Here the label revisits the ‘Panorama’ EP from a few years back, welcoming remixes from
some esteemed artists in the industry.
Christopher Rau returns on remix duties following his take on Symbian for FDF005 and
also FDFALFA01, this time round Rau delivers a hazy take on ‘PRS’ driven by raw
analogue drums, woozy synths and winding subs. Dub master and Scape mastering head
honcho Pole steps up next with his take on ‘CRM’, delivering a typically intricate twist
employing expansive swells, snappy percussion and swirling low end tones.
Irenic boss Roger Gerressen delivers his take on ‘PRS’ next, taking a more groove-driven
feel with stripped-back drums, ethereal pad textures and crisp bass stabs before Van
Bonn wraps up the package, reworking ‘CRM’ with a heavily swung drum groove,
menacing synth flutters and a dynamic, ever-evolving feel.
